Sandra patel - a new era of leadership

When you’ve outgrown your 1st successful business, & figuring out how to evolve & launch your next one

When Sandra and I first met, she was the founder of a successful company. She had built it well. It was profitable. It had reputation and reach.

On paper, there was nothing wrong.

Internally, she knew she had outgrown it.

She was entering a new era of leadership, but she could not yet see what that era looked like. Personal challenges had shaken her confidence. She found herself hesitating at the very moment she needed clarity. She knew she was capable of more, yet she felt stuck between loyalty to what she had built and a pull toward something different

The transition point

Sandra originally joined one of my six-month programmes, combining group space with one-to-one support. What became clear early on was that this was not a tactical business problem. It was an identity shift.

She was no longer the founder who needed to prove she could build something. She was a leader who needed permission to evolve.

Over time, our work moved into deeper one-to-one coaching. The focus was not on forcing an exit. It was on helping her reconnect with what she wanted now, rather than what had once made sense.

When I first started working with Claire, I knew I had outgrown the business I had built, but I could not see a clear way forward. On paper, everything looked successful. Internally, I felt stuck between loyalty to what I had created and a quiet pull towards something new.

Working together gave me the courage to be honest about what I wanted next. Claire did not push me towards any particular decision. She helped me reconnect with my values and trust my own judgement. That clarity allowed me to exit my business in a way that felt deliberate and aligned, rather than reactive.

The Trailblazer Day was a turning point. Standing on a mountain, stepping into freezing water I would once have avoided, I realised I was braver than I had been giving myself credit for. That moment translated directly into how I now lead and make decisions.

I have since launched a portfolio company that reflects who I am now, not who I was when I first started out. I feel lighter, clearer, and more energised in my work. Claire helped me see that evolution is not a failure of what came before. It is a natural next step.

Space and courage

One of the defining moments in Sandra’s journey was her Trailblazer Day.

Away from the boardroom and the daily noise, she had space to think clearly. We walked, talked, and stripped everything back to first principles. On that day, she surprised herself.

At the top of a mountain, she chose to step into a waterfall pool she would once have avoided. The water was cold and the decision was hers alone. It became a physical expression of the courage she was building internally.

The bravery was not about the water. It was about choosing to step forward rather than remain comfortable.

The shift

As clarity strengthened, Sandra made a decision that had been waiting for her. She exited the business she had outgrown.

This was not reactive. It was deliberate. It came from steadiness rather than frustration.

She went on to launch a portfolio company that allowed her to work with clients who felt aligned with her next chapter. It gave her space to experiment, to try new ideas, and to design work around who she was becoming rather than who she had been.

Outcomes

Sandra now leads with more freedom and intention. Her work reflects her current values rather than past obligations.

She describes feeling lighter and more energised. She trusts her judgement more quickly. She feels less constrained by old identities.

The courage she discovered on the mountain has translated into how she makes decisions in her life and business.
